I thoroughly enjoyed The Wild Robot animation movie. I didn’t expect it to be this good.
Roz, the main character, is the perfect representation of people who aim to serve others but forget to take care of themselves.
It’s a beautifully presented context that offers numerous perspectives on relationships, adaptation, surpassing one’s way of thinking, breaking through personal limits and fundamental conditioning, and addressing the patterns of thought that, while useful, can only take you so far.
Roz is a rare beauty. This type of person serves everyone around them, and often those around take advantage of them and their weaknesses, just as Flick (the “sly” fox) does to Roz, up to a point. The characters hold powerful symbolism:
Roz is a robot who did nothing for herself, conditioned solely to fulfill her duties, take orders, and complete her tasks.
Roz represents people with abundant resources who are conditioned and exploited by those more skilled than them.
Flick is a fox, and we usually associate foxes with cunning, duplicity, and the ability to manipulate and exploit others.
Brightbill is the little gosling who receives everything and is supported to eventually fend for himself. This symbolizes the concept of flight.
That’s why it’s fascinating and rewarding to see how the relationships between these three characters develop. It’s evident that something beautiful can be built when everyone takes responsibility for their actions.
I especially loved watching Roz’s evolution—how she transitions from a programmed robot into an incredibly relevant and important support system for everyone around her.
From being a robot designed solely for duty, Roz becomes open and receptive to the environment, discovering herself and awakening a consciousness beyond the software she was programmed with (her mind).
We see Roz being guided by her consciousness and how deeply she impacts everyone and the environment around her in a very positive way.
Roz’s bond with Brightbill demonstrates what it truly means to take responsibility and see it through to give someone a chance to thrive. She does the same with Flick, her friend, who helps her overcome many of her programmed behaviors and functional patterns.
The animation flows seamlessly, growing gradually, with relevant situations that allow you to connect with the characters. The atmosphere is pleasant, offering everything you’d expect: beautiful landscapes, engaging characters, humor, meaningful scenarios, and important life and relationship challenges. It shows that it’s possible to overcome these situations when you listen to your conscience and follow it with brave decisions.
At the same time, it highlights how this journey is difficult, requiring hard work, involvement, and inevitably facing tough situations.
This animation is rich and worth watching multiple times because of its meaningful content and delightful atmosphere.
Enjoy watching it!
